Postal Voting Begins for Election Officials in Madurai District

Madurai, April 15, 2026 – Postal voting for officials engaged in election duty has officially begun in Madurai district. Special arrangements were made across all 10 Assembly constituencies to ensure that polling officials could cast their votes smoothly, following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Training for Polling Officials

Alongside postal voting, officials also attended the second phase of the training programme. This training is crucial to prepare them for their responsibilities during the upcoming elections.

A total of 14,780 officials, including Presiding Officers and Polling Officers assigned to polling stations, participated in the session. The training focused on election procedures, handling voting equipment, and ensuring fair and transparent polling.

Importance of Postal Voting

Postal voting is a key facility provided to government staff and polling officials who are unable to vote at their designated polling stations due to election duty. This ensures that their democratic right to vote is protected while they serve the public during elections.

By conducting postal voting in a structured manner, the Election Commission aims to maintain transparency and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
