Madurai: In a proud moment for traditional martial arts, the Azhar Salman Silambam Centre in Madurai achieved a Silambam world record on the eve of Independence Day 2025.

The record-breaking feat took place at a renowned Madurai college, where 20 Silambam students continuously performed 79 unique Silambam spinning techniques for over 90 minutes.

The event was coordinated by trainer Azharudeen, who guided the participants through the rigorous performance. This milestone showcases both discipline and endurance, drawing attention to Silambam, Tamil Nadu’s ancient martial art form known for its agility and weapon-based techniques.
