Medical camps for special kids from 2nd Feb.

Madurai: The school education department, in association with the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and the differently-abled welfare department, is set to conduct special medical assessment camps for children with disabilities in Madurai from 2nd of February 2023 onwards.
In a statement, the school education department officials in Madurai said that children aged 0-18 and their parents can participate in the camps. The camps will be held from 10am to 2pm at different locations each day, covering 15 blocks. The first camp will be held at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ulaganeri, Othakadai, in Madurai East block on February 2. The camps will be conducted until February 21.
The camps will provide medical assessments for children with disabilities and help them get their National ID cards or Unique Disability ID (UDID) to help them avail of various government welfare schemes. Further, disability certificate renewal, getting new disability certificates, getting subsidies for rail and bus travel, registrations for availing disability aid, monthly assistance, and surgeries under the chief minister’s comprehensive health insurance scheme (CMCHIS) will also be facilitated. All the participating children and parents will be provided with travel expenses and food at the camps.
