‘Orange Alert’ for heat wave in 15 districts of Tamil Nadu

The research center has warned that heat wave may hit the interior districts of North Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow and orange alert has been issued for 15 districts in Tamil Nadu.

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heat wave today for 15 districts namely Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Coimbatore, Karur, Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur.

A statement released by the Chennai Meteorological Department said:- In the upper atmospheric layers of Tamil Nadu, there is a region of variable wind direction. Moderate rain is likely in Tamil Nadu today. It is also said that there is a possibility of rain in various districts till the 12th. Heavy rain is likely in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Tirupattur districts tomorrow. Heavy rain is likely in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi and Nellai districts on the day after tomorrow. Fishermen have been warned not to go to the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh today and tomorrow.

In the last 24 hours, Dindigul Kamachipuram received a maximum of 5 cm each. Rain has been recorded. Andipatti – 4 cm, Mayanur, Vedasandur 3 cm each, Chinnakallar, Dindigul, Kadavur, Ponnaiyar Dam, Thegadi 2 cm each. Rain has been recorded. Chennai is likely to receive light to moderate rain over a few parts of the city during the next 48 hours.

The maximum temperature will be around 38 to 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 29 degrees. Today and tomorrow Heat wave A heat wave may occur in a couple of places in the interior districts of North Tamil Nadu today and in the interior districts tomorrow.

The maximum temperature during the last 24 hours was above normal at many places in the plains of the interior districts of Tamil Nadu. Karur – 110.8 degree heat has been recorded. Erode – 110.1 degree, Tirupur, Vellore, Madurai, Trichy, Tiruthani – 107 degree has been recorded.
