Tamil Nadu Vigilance Team Raids EDs Office In Madurai After Arresting Agencys Officer In Bribery Case

Following the arrest of an agency officer in a bribery case, the Tamil Nadu Vigilance Team raids the ED’s Madurai office. Ankit was reportedly caught on Friday as he was allegedly collecting a cash bribe of Rs 20 lakhs from a Dindigul doctor.

On December 1, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Madurai was raided by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in an unprecedented move. This action came after Ankit Tiwari, an ED official in Dindigul, was taken into custody a few hours earlier. The Dindigul home of Ankit Tiwari is also being searched by DVAC.

Ankit was reportedly caught on Friday as he was allegedly collecting a cash bribe of Rs 20 lakhs from a Dindigul doctor. An formal statement verifying Ankit Tiwari’s credentials is expected, and the DVAC is currently looking into the veracity of his status as an ED official.

According to the police, Ankit and his purported collaborators had extorted and intimidated a number of people, offering to settle accusations against them in exchange for money.

Ankit was reportedly arrested by DVAC officers when his automobile was intercepted on the Dindigul-Madurai National Highway. According to News Media, DVAC received a confidential tip that resulted in Ankit’s interception and the cash’s finding. At the Enforcement Directorate’s regional office, the Dindigul Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) are presently carrying out additional investigations.
