TANGEDCO Enhances Power Infrastructure in Madurai to Meet Summer Demand
To tackle the anticipated surge in electricity consumption, TANGEDCO has installed new feeders across Madurai. The move aims to efficiently distribute power and prevent overloads, ensuring uninterrupted supply during peak summer months. Officials project a demand of 335 MW this May, surpassing last year’s consumption of 249 MW.
The initiative includes 13 new feeders in urban areas, with additional installations planned in Thiruppalai, Arasanadi, Vandiyur, and Villapuram. Furthermore, substations in Anaiyur and Vadipatti will receive upgrades, alongside a new 110/11-kV substation at Panangadi.
Authorities emphasize the importance of energy-efficient practices, urging residents to optimize air conditioner usage and opt for high-star-rated appliances to conserve power.
