Over 200 alumni from the 1996–2002 batch of Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) returned to their roots in Madurai, celebrating their shared history with a generous donation of ₹50.02 lakh to support underprivileged students.
Madurai, July 29, 2025 — Thiagarajar College of Engineering, one of Tamil Nadu’s most esteemed engineering institutions, recently hosted an emotionally charged and vibrant alumni reunion for the 1996–2000 batch on Friday, July 18, 2025. The event took place at the college’s Thiruparankundram campus in Madurai and drew over 200 former students, many of whom arrived with their families to reconnect with peers, reflect on their journeys, and contribute meaningfully to their alma mater.
The reunion was presided over by Dr.L.Ashok Kumar, Principal of TCE, and featured inspiring addresses by distinguished alumni including Mr. Arun Prasath, Mr. Rajavel, Mr. Vinod Raj, and Mr. Rajendran. These notable graduates spoke passionately about the formative role TCE played in shaping their careers and lives, sharing heartfelt memories that resonated with all in attendance.

The celebration also included a touching tribute to retired professors and long- serving staff members, who were honored for their unwavering service and dedication to the college. The event was meticulously organized under the leadership of Professor Dr.S Karthikeyan, President of the TCE Alumni Association. Mr. Ganesh Kumar delivered a warm welcome address, and the occasion was enriched with cultural performances and entertainment that reflected the college’s spirit of unity and pride. Mr. K. Hari Thiagarajan, Chairman & Correspondent of TCE, addressed the gathering and praised the alumni for their unity and sense of purpose, stating,
