Fire in women’s hostel in Madurai claims lives of two teachers

Madurai, Tamil Nadu – A fire at a women’s hostel in Madurai killed 2 teachers in another disastrous incident. The fire broke out at early morning, causing panic among the hostel’s residents. Firefighters were sent to the scene and worked hard to quell it. However, the two teachers, who were trapped in the building, could not be saved.

Early reports indicate that the fire was possibly due to an electrical short circuit. The officials in charge are conducting an investigation, but the investigation should be thorough to determine the cause, and assure it does not happen again. The hostel site and local authorities were cooperating fully with the investigation.
