Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express Increases Coaches to 16 as Passenger Demand Climbs
Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express expands to 16 coaches from Sept 11 to ease overcrowding and improve connectivity
From September 11, the Madurai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express was upgraded to a full 16-coach configuration in response to growing passenger demand, especially from business travellers, students, and tourists. Previously operating with 8 coaches (seven chair cars and one executive chair), the train now includes 14 chair cars and two executive chair cars.
This coach expansion aims to reduce waiting lists and improve travel comfort, particularly along routes connecting Madurai with Karnataka and neighbouring Tamil Nadu districts. Officials say that the upgrade emerges after repeated appeals by commuters and trade associations.
Transportation watchers and passengers welcome the change, expecting enhanced connectivity and fewer delays during peak travel periods.
