A deeply emotional moment in the festival is the arrival of Lord Alagar, Meenakshi’s brother, from Alagar Kovil. As per the legend, he starts his journey to attend the wedding but arrives too late. Instead of entering the temple, he respectfully offers his gifts at the Vaigai River. His arrival is honored through a grand annual procession and holds great emotional value for the people.
