In a powerful display of community spirit and commitment to social change, over 2,000 participants—including men, women, and children aged 15 and above—took part in an awareness run in Madurai aimed at highlighting the dangers of drug abuse. The event, held on a bright Sunday morning, was organized jointly by the Madurai City Police and the Indian Red Cross Society, underscoring the urgent need for collaborative efforts to combat the growing menace of substance abuse.

The run was flagged off at the Armed Reserve Ground, coursing along the well-known New Natham Road and concluding at the Iyer Bungalow. Participants, dressed in vibrant activewear and carrying placards with slogans such as “Say No to Drugs” and “We will create a drug-free Tamil Nadu,” created a colorful and inspiring spectacle that caught the attention of the public and passersby.

Setting an inspiring tone for the event, Commissioner of Police J. Loganathan not only inaugurated the run but also joined the participants on the road, running shoulder to shoulder with Deputy Commissioners A.G. Inigo Thivyan, Rajeswari, and S. Vanitha.
